I'm soooo grateful to be part of the #Blogafam and to learn stuff from the said event.
It was the night before we left for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we decided to visit Souk Al-Mubarakiya. Sadly, my phone didn't do any justice of how nice this place is. I felt a bit sad that I left my camera at our unit.
Souk Al-Mubarakiya (or Souq Al-Mubarakiya?) is considered the oldest, if not, one of the oldest souqs (open-air market) in Kuwait. Tradition is what Souk Al-Mubarakiya has to offer. It is situated in the heart of Kuwait City and any cab driver and locals now where this place is exactly situated. It is filled with little booths selling everything from spices, meat, fruits and veg, to clothes, pots and pans, and fake designer bags. Restaurants which serves Arab dishes are also present.
Walking to the Souk Al-Mubarakiya. The view is lovely and we can see the tower full of lights from afar. We had to walk quite far because parking was just difficult but it's definitely worth it.
While walking I was thinking it would be lovely to take photos there during day time because lighting 'ya know. HAHA.
The place were flooded by tons of people that night especially the restaurants. I even saw a couple of chinese or korean travelers, I was really surprised since Kuwait is not that tourist-y.
I must say Kuwaitis are very patriotic, flags everywhere and the lights (even the buildings) are in colors green, red and white - the colors of their flag. As in grabe! I wish we Filipinos are like that or will do that too, sadly patriotism is slowly dying in our country. Even during our independence day, I barely see flags on streets and lights with the color of flag in buildings.
I was drooling for those tea sets. What can I say, I'm a sucker for tea cups and pastels.
Apparently, OOTD shots ala blogger style are not that common in Kuwait, if i'm not mistaken. A lot of people were staring at me while hubby is taking my picture. But that didn't stop me!
Hello there! It's been quite a while since I posted something here. A lot has happened... I had A LOT on my shoulders that made blogging last on my list, I became uninspired and my passion for blogging slipped away. Some time two months ago, I even made this blog private for some personal reasons i'm too ashamed to share. Just remembering it makes me cringe a little bit. But i'm here, i'm back with a fresh start... Hopefully for good.

Life Lately
Life has been crazy and a lot was going on, good and bad. And I want to share it here not for lots of people to see (as if my life or whatever is fascinating to know) but for my future self. Memories to keep.
- Work especially paper works ate 70% of my time. I've spent sleepless nights and shed a river of tears just to finish all the IEP's, Reports, and Curriculum for my students. Being a SPED teacher is not easy as pie!
- For the first time in my life, I became an emcee. It was a nerve wracking but quite a nice experience.
- Saying good bye to my students was the hardest part. I cried like a baby during the moving up ceremony.
- So I decided to apply as a public school teacher. I had demo teaching, English proficiency test, and interview.
- It's a surreal feeling to watch one of my favorite books come to life, and I must say the series is better than the books.
- I love the fact that my sisters-in-law and I are pretty much close now.
- I was rank 6 in the RQA. After the results went out I was busy complying with all the requirements.
- Lately, I've been living a life away from the internet, enjoying the little things like reading books, gardening and spending time with my loved ones.
- I just finished watching Goblin. It's an amazing intro to the K-drama world. I'm in lo e with Gong Yoo!
- Lazy days are the best
Days from now, I will embark a journey of uncertainty. Wish me luck!
I've been here in Kuwait for more than two weeks now and I still haven't seen the most of it yet. If you're wondering why... Well some days were meant for processing documents and most days i'm just tucking myself in our tiny apartment watching tons of movies, surfing the internet, practicing my cooking skills, cleaning here and there. Another reason is I think i'm a bit traumatized with my experience. But I realised I shouldn't let that ruin the rest of my stay, the best solution: shake it off. Yeah that's what I did. And my love has been very comforting and supportive.
So, the husband brought me to Al Shaheed Park. I don't know the exact location but I know for sure that it's in the heart of Kuwait City.. When we entered the park, I was mesmerized by the red flowers in every corner, they're beautiful. I never thought they would grow and bloom to a place where climate can go from extreme cold to extremely hot. From there we can see all the tall buildings that surround the park, I felt like a Tinkerbell when I looked p. We roam around and enjoyed the view, we also watch people strolling around the park which are mostly families or group friends, some are couples.

There was a glass building and my love as curious as he can be insisted to go inside. As it turns out, it's a museum! We were provided with head phones for us to listen about whatever is inside it. And it's free of charge by the way. Plants present in Kuwait are are found inside the museum as well as replica of animals like the picture of my good friend (with a resting bitch face) above, also climate and land formation of the country. I was simply amazed for the fact that it's a first for me to witness a museum with 3D animations/effect and all. I wish we could have like that back home...
We ended our night by people watching near the Kuwait Towers with snacks and heartfelt conversation.
It was lunch time when Ali and I finished some errands and we have a few hours to rest before our next appointment. So with hungry tummies, we decided to go to House of Cashews which is a bit far from GenSan (located at Silway 8 Polomolok) for lunch. The place isn't situated along the highway but we didn't have a hard time finding it since there's a sign on which road to turn.
We were hesitant to enter the gate since we felt like we were the only ones there, but when I asked the gardener if this is the place we were looking for and she said yes, I was relieved. We were greeted by this peaceful and beautiful garden plus the classic music filled the place.
While waiting for the food that we ordered, I retouched my makeup because the heat while traveling to this place wiped my makeup away, I also took some pictures around the restaurant. I really love the place since it's peaceful and relaxing. Also, the food is superb and to die for.
When I asked the waitress what are the non-pork dishes in their menu, she said that they're not serving pork viands at all, even soda and beers weren't in their menu. She said they're all about being healthy and having healthier lifestyle. I was really happy with it. Finally a Halal restaurant! Anyway, we ordered kare-kare, chicken fillet, rice, coconut shake, and tea. I've noticed all of there dishes have cashews, even the coconut shake has one which is surprisingly delicious. It is truly the House of Cashews. And for the prices, it's all worth it and reasonable (400-500 per viand if i'm not mistaken) considering the the taste, per viand or dishes is for 2-3 person.
I think my outfit for this lunch date was perfect since it was scorching hot that day and we were traveling via motorcycle. So the scarf, boots and checkered polo was my protection from the heat. And my pug tee says hi! :)
And... Another outfit post! Hahaha. Lately, I am fond of dressing up. I am in love with matching different hijabs with my outfit, creating hues that would go together. In this outfit post, as you can see it's all about the color brown. I don't know but it just came up! :D
It was after lunch when we went out of the house to run some errands and I tell you the weather was such a bummer. It was scorching hot! The weather here in GenSan has been really really really hot which is quite a burden for all hijabis since we're wearing long sleeves or covered-up clothes. Initially, I wanted my photos to be taken at the flower field since we dropped by there to buy some flowers but sadly the husband was a bit tired for photo shoots :(. Anyway, it was twilight when we took these photographs at our neighborhood, and I think it was perfect because the orange hues are reflecting which matches my outfit. I apoligise for the not so pretty background tho, there are no pretty places in the neighborhood where we can take pretty photographs. But I think this will do... Hahaha.
As you have noticed I am a fan of thrift shops and affordable clothes. And I was sooo happy when I found that white top in Unitop, it was the last piece and I just have to get it! The funny thing is I saw a same top in a boutique and it costs Php 500 and the one I bought only costs Php 230 so it's a total catch!

Ever since I transferred platforms and decided that it’s time to bring blogging into the next level, I made a promise to myself that I will post OOTDs or What I Wore as much as I can here in my humble blog. And since majority of the people here in the Philippines are Catholic, Modest/Muslim Fashion is often neglected. To tell you honestly, I still get that stare at malls or public places, I don’t know if they’re in awe that a hijabi or a woman who is fully covered is a fashionista or that racist kind of look. But I’d like to think it’s the first one.
So…
Recently, I collaborated with Kai with her project, the
Hijabi Mag. This is all about spreading awareness on Modest Fashion here in
the Philippines and to show that wearing hijab is NOT an oppression but a
choice. In short it’s “Hey, you can be all covered up and be
fashionista at the same time”. :D I’m just so excited and I can’t wait for the
launching! Maybe it’ll be launched before or during Ramadan. Inshallah.

There are days when i'm too lazy to dress up and today is one of those days. Also, I discovered my love for boyfriend jeans which is perfect for lazy days like today. I had a hard time finding one, thankfully the heavens heard my wish and I found "the one". Guess where? Ukay-ukay as we call it or the thrift shop. I find it hard to shop for modest clothes in the mall so most of my clothes are from different thrift shops. I looooooove Ukay-ukay I can't deny it!
Yesterday, my love and I had our Saturdate. I was craving for lasagna so we went to Greenwich at KCC mall but it was sold out. Imagine the disappointment. I went out of the store with a broken heart and sad stomach. Oh well... Then we decided just to have our merienda at KFC which was okay cos I finally tasted their double down burger which tastes sooooo good! But lasagna, lasagna was still haunting me... Hahaha! Afterwards, we went looking for a comforter and we had kitchen/furniture window shopping. It's our thing, we love looking for pieces that we love to have in our dream home.
We spent the rest of the night watching Revenge. We're really addicted to it since it first aired! :D
Little moments like this is what I love most! We're making the most of our limited time together. I just wish he can stay for a bit longer cos things are easier when he's around. And he makes my life so much sweeter! <3

Salam! :) It seems that I’ve neglected my blog, it’s been awhile since I posted something here. I’ve been quite busy for weeks now and I’ve been sick for days. Boohooo, it sucks i know! Alas, this is me trying to give life (again :D) to this little haven of mine. This is for sure a comeback! :)
Sooo… Anyway, I made a post about the C&S Inhijab that Colors and Style sent me, and after that quite a few lovely muslimahs were asking for a tutorial. It took me awhile to make a video because of busy schedule and another reason is I guess I’m "a bit" shy to talk in front of the camera and post it online. I tell you i’m an introvert! Yes, I was hesitant, but I did it anyway. Haha. Be warned! The video contains a lot of spoofs. I deeply apologise in advance if ever there are any inconsistency, also for the mess which you will see in my background since I made this video while chillin with my cousins, and lastly for the poor quality. As I said this is my first time to make a hijab tutorial and I’m just using my iphone, but I promise I’ll be better soon if ever craziness struck me again and i’ll post another tutorial. Inshaallah. But for now, ENJOY! :)

We ladies especially hijabi’s need longer time to fix ourselves and dress up, and of course try different hijab styles that will match our outfit. My schedule is usually not fixed and when there’s a sudden change I always end up hurrying every time I leave the house. So i’m in dire need of a hijab that is fast and easy peasy to wear. Lucky for me that Colors and Style sent me their newest original product, the C & S INHIJAB that they will launch soon!
I was really giddy when I received a call from 2go that they’re going to deliver the package at my house! I was all smiles when the the delivery guy handed it to me. Yes, lumilevel up na si ateng! May Sponsor na! Ahahaha :D And what made me more happy is the handwritten letter from the owner, Ate Leanne. I just love receiving personal letters!
I was really excited that I immediately tried it and played with different styles, and of course I took a lot of selfies and self-portraits. :D Anyway, I see to it that i’m all honest in giving product reviews so that ya’ll can really decided whether to purchase the product or not. As for what Colors and Styles (the C&S INHIJAB) sent me, so far i’m lovin it! It’s an instant hijab, that means you don’t have to put an inner to totally hide your hair. The fabric is smooth and not that thick which is perfect for the weather here in the Philippines and other tropical countries. Also, it really gives you full coverage. The way the hijab is sewn in quite okay, I just wish they have sewed the joined cloth thingy (it can be seen at the lower left of the hijab) at the back part so that it’s not noticeable. OMG I I don’t know how to explain it properly! Haha. Anyway, this is not my first instant hijab. The ones i’ve purchased before are not long enough which hinders me to try different looks. I just love how long this C&S INHIJAB is, it maximize me to try a lot of hijab styles.
I’m a big fan of Amenakin and I always wanted to try out her looks which hinders me cos some of my hijabs are not that long enough and I can’t afford the hoojab right now (the shipment is expensive! huhuhu). But with C&S INHIJAB, I can achieve this Amenakin inspired look. I will post a tutorial of it soon, I promise!

I gained weight over the past few months which made me sad and insecure. I used to be insecure with other muslimah’s beauty and blessings. But i realized being too much of a pessimist will get me nowhere, every one of us is different and will go through a different journey. I know mine will come soon too. Changing your mindset and looking into the brighter side is hard but always keep in mind it’s so much better thinking that way and everything will come in place. Tbh, sometimes I still get a little sad when I look at myself in the mirror, but that’s life isn’t it? Whenever that happens, I just do something that makes me happy like listening to music or reading a book or seek comfort from my best friend. Sometimes it’s the little things that brings genuine happiness. There are still a lot to be thankful for… Alhamdulillah for this hard but beautiful life! 😊
