BITS OF JOYCE: muslim fashion

Sweet Laces

Nowadays, muslimah and hijab shops are growing like mushrooms. And sometimes with all these shops, the common problem is who sells quality hijabs and clothing. I'm proud to say that I found one! The Sweet Laces by J is my new favorite shop. They offer quality scarves and instant hijabs as well as muslim dresses with affordable to reasonable price.

I was so happy when they sent me these hijabs! And i'll tell you what I like as well as dislike with these hijabs.

WHAT I LOVE:

The variety of hijabs they're selling. I'm a sucker for pastel colors and I tell you hijabs with these kind are quite hard to find. So I was surprised when I saw lots of hijabs and dresses with pastel colors while browsing their IG feed.
It's affordable! Most of their hijabs costs Php 300 but wait... What if I tell you with that price the shipping fee is free that is if you're living in the Philippines. It's awesome right?! :)
I also love the quality of their hijabs. The stitches are good and I can really say it's matibay.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:

Honestly, I have none! I love everything about this shop. I just wish they would offer more hijab designs as well as viscose hijabs tho.

I'm in love with this scarf! Yes i'm a sucker for pastel colors and florals. This scarf is made of chiffon, 2 meters long. It's in the color light blue with pink and white florals. I have no words for it other than I love love love it!

This is an instant hijab, good for those who are always in a hurry. But I suggest you wear an inner with this instant hijab to fully cover your hair. I also love the color. The cloth is soft but not as soft as the other scarf, i'm not exactly sure what kind of cloth it is. Alas, I love it!

Shades of Brown

And... Another outfit post! Hahaha. Lately, I am fond of dressing up. I am in love with matching different hijabs with my outfit, creating hues that would go together. In this outfit post, as you can see it's all about the color brown. I don't know but it just came up! :D

It was after lunch when we went out of the house to run some errands and I tell you the weather was such a bummer. It was scorching hot! The weather here in GenSan has been really really really hot which is quite a burden for all hijabis since we're wearing long sleeves or covered-up clothes. Initially, I wanted my photos to be taken at the flower field since we dropped by there to buy some flowers but sadly the husband was a bit tired for photo shoots :(. Anyway, it was twilight when we took these photographs at our neighborhood, and I think it was perfect because the orange hues are reflecting which matches my outfit. I apoligise for the not so pretty background tho, there are no pretty places in the neighborhood where we can take pretty photographs. But I think this will do... Hahaha.

As you have noticed I am a fan of thrift shops and affordable clothes. And I was sooo happy when I found that white top in Unitop, it was the last piece and I just have to get it! The funny thing is I saw a same top in a boutique and it costs Php 500 and the one I bought only costs Php 230 so it's a total catch!

What I Wore:

Hijab: Gmall

Top: Unitop

Belt: Gmall

Square Pants: Djam Fashion Wear

Flats: Parisian

Bag: Secosana

Modesty

Modesty in Islam is one of the principles of faith. It is freedom from vanity and showiness. It is decency and moderation in speech, manner, dress and total attitude and behavior towards life. It is shyness, simplicity and humility about our abilities and accomplishments. (http://www.answers.com/Q/What_is_modesty_in_Islam)

Ever since I transferred platforms and decided that it’s time to bring blogging into the next level, I made a promise to myself that I will post OOTDs or What I Wore as much as I can here in my humble blog. And since majority of the people here in the Philippines are Catholic, Modest/Muslim Fashion is often neglected. To tell you honestly, I still get that stare at malls or public places, I don’t know if they’re in awe that a hijabi or a woman who is fully covered is a fashionista or that racist kind of look. But I’d like to think it’s the first one.

So…

Recently, I collaborated with Kai with her project, the Hijabi Mag. This is all about spreading awareness on Modest Fashion here in the Philippines and to show that wearing hijab is NOT an oppression but a choice. In short it’s “Hey, you can be all covered up and be fashionista at the same time”. :D I’m just so excited and I can’t wait for the launching! Maybe it’ll be launched before or during Ramadan. Inshallah.

I’m still new at this What I Wore posts and I apologise in advance, albeit I will do my best to make my every post catchy and genuine. For now, I am leaving you with a fun shoot I had with my dearest cousin and best friend plus a quote I love by Angelina Jolie.
